iPads Provided in the Anatomy Labs

We have now provided five iPads in the anatomy lab, with five more to follow next
week. Some considerations regarding this new iPad-enhanced Anatomy lab.

We are concerned about the security and safety of the iPads since each is worth over
$700 (iPad plus apps). Do not remove them from the lab for any reason. Protective
cases are on their way, but be sure to place them on the book stands instead of
propping them in precarious positions!

The ten iPads were purchased by Medical Education to enhance your Anatomy
experience…should these devices become damaged, lost, or stolen, they can not be
easily replaced. Please take care of them like your own iPads. The lab will
continue to be locked to prevent unauthorized access. Please report any suspicious
activity or mishandling of the iPads.

The iPads are encased in plastic, which requires a longer contact with the fingers
for a response. The plastic will protect the iPads from damage and should not be
removed. For your evaluation, we also have a handful of stylus’ coming, so please
feel free to try those out when they arrive. We have designated storage/charging
area – please keep the devices charged when not in use as a courtesy to other
students.

The iPads have identically been loaded with several fantastic anatomy-related apps
worth over $200. These include:

Pocket Body

Modality with the following volumes:
– Atlas of Anatomy
– Imaging Atlas of Human Anatomy
– Netter’s Anatomy Flash Cards
– Rohen’s Photographic Anatomy Flash Cards
– Sylvius MR: Atlas of the Human Brain

TITLES TO COME
– All Lippincott titles on VitalSource/CourseSmart
– Moore’s Essential Clinical Anatomy
– Acland Anatomy Walkthroughs
