iMedEd Release Notes Version 07.02.15

Instructional Technologies Media Studio

In December 2014, the Division of Instructional Technologies opened a Media Studio in response to evolving curricular needs including more flipped classroom teaching and active learning opportunities. The Media Studio, located in Room 1008 on the first floor of the Medical Education Building in Irvine, has made it practical for School of Medicine educators (faculty, staff and students) to produce high-quality videos for use in teaching medical students, residents, patients and CME. Presenters can take advantage of the studio’s teleprompter, background canvas, green screen, high fidelity audio and studio lighting. Videos can include a “talking head” (video capture of the speaker), presentation slides and live demonstrations. Bring your imagination!

To see some examples of videos recorded in our Media Studio, visit:

BrainPath and Intracerebral Hemorrhage by Dr. Jeff Chen (using separate video feeds of the presentation and talking head and including a live demonstration)
PEP Talk – Holiday Decoration Safety with Dr. Alisa Wray (using the green screen technique to integrate the talking head into the presentation)
Motivational Interviewing by Dr. Lauren Marshall (using an interview format)
