AAMC Digital Literacy Toolkit for Educators and Learners

The role of social media in the lives of physicians, patients and healthcare delivery is growing rapidly. It is important that all those involved in the care of patients understand the benefits and challenges of using social media as a tool for communication. In 2013, the AAMC’s Group on Information Resources (GIR) brought together a team of physicians with expertise in the area of digital professionalism, including Warren Wiechmann, MD, MBA, our Associate Dean of Clinical Science Education and Educational Technology, to develop a toolkit of resources and educational materials with the goal of helping healthcare providers facilitate meaningful discussions around social media with students and colleagues. If you are interested in designing a curriculum around this topic, consider this clinically relevant toolkit in your preparation.
