School of Medicine Learning Objectives

The School of Medicine’s academic mission is defined by 19 program objectives. These program objectives are organized around four core competencies that prepare UC Irvine graduates to be knowledge, skillful, altruistic and dutiful. Further, each core course and clerkship across the four years of the medical school curriculum has identified a set of learning objectives that are mapped to these program objectives so that students have the opportunity to  master and be assessed on these core competencies.

To view the School of Medicine program objectives and the objectives for all core courses and clerkships, visit: UCISOM Learning Landmarks.

Faculty, residents and housestaff involved in teaching medical students should have received an invitation to a mandatory annual training course from the UC Learning Center that reviews the UCISOM program objectives, course/clerkship objectives and key policies of the learning environment so that all those involved in teaching will be aware of the expectations of our academic program.
