School of Medicine Program Objectives

The School of Medicine’s academic mission is defined by 19 program objectives. These program objectives are organized around four core competencies that prepare UC Irvine graduates to be KNOWLEDGABLE, SKILLFUL, ALTRUISTIC and DUTIFUL. Further, these program objectives drive the learning objectives of each core course and clerkship across the four years of the medical school curriculum so that students have the opportunity to master and be assessed on these core competencies. All those involved in teaching medical students should be aware of the expectations of our academic program to help better prepare them for graduation.
