Pearls on Educational Principles

Evidence-based educational principles are important to be considered when developing new curriculum and evaluating the effectiveness of didactic activities. To help inform medical educators about such principles, the UCSF Center for Faculty Educators has developed the “Pearls on Educational Principles” program.

This program consists of brief one-page brochures covering learning theories and educational research relevant to medical education including topics like cognitive apprenticeship, workplace learning and flipped classroom. These brochures are designed for print and can be used by faculty for a quick introduction/refresher on an educational theory or as a supplemental resource shared during faculty development sessions.

To download these brochures and read more about this program, visit: “Pearls on Educational Principles”.
