Podcasting

The concept of the flipped classroom has prompted more interest in the podcasting of didactic materials. For those clinical faculty interested in creating podcasts for their lectures, UCI’s Office of Information Technology provides a service called UCI Replay to assist you in recording, distributing and viewing podcasts. Through this service, all UCI faculty and staff have free access to TechSmith’s Camtasia Relay, a simple screen recording and sharing tool.

For more information on UCI Replay and instructions on downloading and using Camtasia Relay, visit: http://replay.oit.uci.edu/getstarted.php

The Flipped Classroom

The concept of the flipped classroom has been gaining momentum since it was first introduced in 2004. TheĀ  infographic below provides a great summary of this concept. While the clinical training that MS3’s is already based in hands-on, active learning, we encourage clerkship directors to continue exploring ways to implement flipped classroom approaches in their rotations.
