Innovation Spotlight: Ultrasound Multi-touch Digital Books
On June 10, 2015, Sari Lahham, MS4, launched a new project to create a series of 7 ultrasound iBooks (multi-touch digital books) to revamp the ultrasound curriculum for medical students as well as emergency medicine residents. With the support of a team of dedicated medical students, ultrasonographers, and faculty members, hundreds of ultrasound images and video clips captured at the UCI Medical Center were meticulously scrutinized. Exemplary images and clips were then coupled with written content to create informative and interactive, yet concise and direct multimedia resources to support the learning of emergency ultrasound. These 7 iBooks were produced in only 6 short weeks and are already being integrated into the teaching of emergency medicine residents.
