The iMedEd Initiative is excited to announce the second Med iBookJam competition to be held from Sept., 15-28, 2015.

What is the Med iBookJam?
The Med iBookJam is a competition where teams of high school students, medical students and School of Medicine faculty come together to create multi-touch iBooks related to healthcare. The event will focus on the production of the iBooks using Appleā€™s iBooks Author tool. Teams will use a standardized template with the intention of publishing the content to the Apple iBooks Store for feature in a UC Irvine School of Medicine collection.

We held our first Med iBookJam from April 9-13, 2015. It was a great success with 12 iBooks produced over a 72-hour period. For information on the winning teams and the iBooks created during this competition, visit: 2015 Spring Med iBookJam teams. Congratulations to all faculty and students who participated in this inaugural event!

MediBookJamSmall

This September, we will expand the Med iBookJam to 12 days to provide faculty and students more time to create and collaborate on their final products. Further, we have partnered with the Health and Science Enrichment Programs led by Dr. Behnoosh Afghani to launch the iMedEd Technology Innovation Program through which gifted high school students will learn about technology in healthcare and receive mentorship while participating in the Med iBookJam competition.

Important Update For Faculty and Residents Evaluating Students

With the help of HS developers, we have made an important update to the workflow for student evaluations to become effective next week. When you receive an email reminder to evaluate a medical student on a clerkship, you can simply click on the link in the email and it will take you straight to the evaluation WITHOUT requiring an additional login. For faculty and residents not at UC Irvine Medical Center, this feature should make completing evaluations much easier. We will be sending out a user guide shortly.
