Welcome Class of 2019!

The Class of 2019 is alive and well on the UC Irvine campus! The 104 medical students admitted to the School of Medicine began their academic career on August 5, 2015, the first day of orientation. In addition to receiving an introduction to the Medical Education faculty and staff, an overview of their MS1 year, diversity, professionalism, career advisement and technology training, they also received their iPads as have all incoming students since 2010 and the start of the iMedEd Initiative.

This year, students were given an opportunity to upgrade and select the model, color and storage size of their iPads. This was a departure from the traditional gifting of iPads to the students at the White Coat ceremony. The UCI TechHub set up an iPad pop-up store in the Tamkin Building where a team lead by TechHub Manager, Mason Kington, facilitated the distribution and upgrades of iPads for the students. All in all, this was a successful event and our new MS1’s are ready to begin class on August 10th with iPads in hand!
