iMedEd Release Notes Version 11.13.15

The Resurgence of Video in Medical Education

Drs. Warren Wiechmann and Julie Youm of the iMedEd Initiative presented on the “The Resurgence of Video in Medical Education – from GoPro, to Google Glass, to the next Big Thing!” to a standing room only audience at the 2015 AAMC Medical Education meeting (November 10-12, 2015) in Baltimore, MD. The presentation covered the use of video in medical education and its expanding role due to relatively low-cost disruptive devices, such as GoPro and Google Glass, that are being used in innovative ways by both physicians and students. Accordingly, it is important that educators have a more thorough understanding of how these devices work, the supporting environment needed to allow these devices to be successful, and potential barriers and subsequent strategies to their implementation.
