LCME Accreditation Site Visit Jan. 29 – Feb. 1, 2017
The School of Medicine will undergo a site visit by an accreditation team from Jan. 29 – Feb. 1, 2017 to ensure that our school is in compliance with standards set forth by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME), the accrediting body for U.S. and Canadian programs leading to an MD degree.
Since our last site visit in 2009, the School of Medicine has implemented tremendous changes across strategic, administrative and curricular levels to move forward our tripartite mission to discover, teach and heal. A policy and process for continuous quality improvement (CQI) adopted by the Division of Education Compliance and Quality, Office of Medical Education, will guide the monitoring of these efforts so that a high-quality level of education for our medical students can be maintained.
Towards this end, the Division of Educational Technology has overseen the implementation of many new technologies/systems over the past few years to support the active CQI efforts including, but not limited to:
- Ilios (Curriculum Mapping Database)
- Canvas (Learning Management System)
- New Innovations (Medical Student Management System)
- ExamSoft (Online Exam Administration and Management System)
- UC Irvine Student Records System (Student Tracking System)
- Tableau (Data Analytics System)
We have shared our progress with these systems through the iMedEd Release Notes. To learn more about any of them contact us at imeded@uci.edu.
We are confident that our CQI processes and accreditation efforts will present a strong picture of the School of Medicine to the LCME and appreciate the efforts of all involved who make our educational program successful.
